Greece Company Formation

Greece company formation procedures follow the EPE/Sarl structure with the benefits of a limited liability company. The process takes approximately two weeks.

The process begins with name registration with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, after which the company needs to register an office, get government approval for company statutes and register for tax purposes. Tax officials will also inspect the address, so you must calculate the cost of maintaining the space into registering the business.

There are no restrictions on director nationality. However, due to regulatory requirements, it is preferable to have a Greek resident on board.

If a single individual owns the entirety of a company, the company shall be considered a sole establishment and the company name shall also reflect the trade name.

If it is a single owner company, any contracts that are signed by the company owner, apart from operational transactions, must be registered in writing in the company minutes.

The documents and procedures required for formation are:

  • The articles of incorporation. You must sign them in front of a notary public, and you must put the company capital into a bank account

  • The capital tax has to be paid immediately to the local Tax Authority in return for a stamp issued by the Lawyer’s Pension Fund. The Lawyer’s Welfare Fund provides certification

  • The articles of incorporation are registered with the Court of First Instance, and the company then receives a registration number

  • The Printing Office includes the publication of the Articles of Incorporation in its official journal then registration is completed at the Chamber of Commerce & Industry and social security authorities

  • The Tax Authority will stamp the invoice and company account books after receiving the Tax Registration Number
