Enjoy Remote Work in Dubai With New Visa Scheme

dubai remote working programme for overseas professionals

Have you ever wanted to have the chance to live abroad while continuing to work remotely? If Dubai has been at the top of your destination list, this is for you: the authorities recently announced a new visa scheme that entitles you to work at your current position from Dubai for an entire year. Are you curious about the benefits and requirements of the Dubai Remote Working Programme for overseas professionals? Keep reading for all the details.

Dubai Remote Working Programme for Overseas Professionals

The Dubai Virtual Working Programme is a one-year visa that entitles you to a multiple-entry visa in the UAE. However, like with many other residency visas in the UAE, you cannot stay outside the UAE for more than six months. And if you decide to stay in the UAE for more than one year, you will have to reapply.

What are the application requirements for the Dubai Virtual Working Programme?

All applicants for the remote work programme must supply the following:

  • A valid passport with at least six months validity on it

  • Health insurance that covers you in the UAE

You must also present Proof of Employment, but the documents needed depend on your employment situation. If you are working for a company, the Proof of Employment to submit for your Dubai visa is the following:

  • A work contract valid for at least one year

  • Documents proving you can meet the financial threshold, which are:

    • A minimum salary of at least 5,000 USD

    • Your payslip from the prior month

    • Your last three months’ bank statements

If you own a company, your Proof of Employment consists of the following:

  • Proof of Ownership for at least one year

  • Documents proving you can meet the financial threshold, which are:

    • A minimum income of 5,000 USD

    • Bank statements from the last three months

Like with other types of visas, visa approval is not guaranteed when you pay the processing fees. While there are no nationality restrictions for this visa, the Immigration authorities in the UAE can reject applicants in the interest of national security. Also, if you already have another type of visa or have another UAE visa in process, you are not eligible to apply for this programme

Once you receive your visa and arrive in Dubai, you will receive your Emirates ID, the document you need for many parts of your daily life. With the ID comes access to many services such as banking, phone lines, housing rentals and, if you come with children, the ability to send them to local schools.

Why Dubai?

Among the benefits of living in Dubai is the superb digital infrastructure that facilitates remote work. With the ambitious plans to embrace blockchain technology across bureaucratic affairs and the simplicity of doing business, remote work in Dubai is seamless. Plus, there’s a wealth of facilities available to establish your operations, including the coworking and virtual office packages we can provide for you through Europe Emirates Group.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Dubai reopened its doors to tourists and continues to work tirelessly to ensure the health and safety of residents and visitors with measures that include the “Dubai Assured” stamp that recognises facilities that implement all the recommended health and safety protocols. You can enjoy a wealth of leisure and entertainment options that include shopping centres, beaches, amusement parks and restaurants

Finally, the tax benefits of living in Dubai are another one of the crucial perks of living in the city. There is no individual income tax; the primary consumer tax is a five per cent value-added tax (VAT) applicable on domestically-sold goods and services. In addition, some municipalities have property taxes.
