A Dubai and UAE Free Zone Cost Comparison

dubai free zone company cost

There are many benefits to pursuing company formation in a Free Zone in Dubai or the UAE. The 45 available Free Zones across the country offer financial incentives to foreigners looking for a hub to operate regionally. We’ve previously mentioned that choosing the right Free Zone stems from several factors, including whether the Free Zone caters to your industry and has the appropriate activity licence for your operations. Inevitably, the cost of taking up such an endeavour also factors significantly into the equation. With that in mind, we have a comparison of licence fees for several Free Zones that you can use to increase the information you have for your decision.

A comparison of licence fees in Free Zones

Given that there are so many options, we’ve decided to cover a selection of Free Zone licence cost rates in Dubai and the UAE to give you the ability to examine the range of available options. What Free Zones did we select to be part of this chart? Have a closer look.

Sharjah Media City (SHAMS) Free Zone

Since 2017, the Sharjah Media City (SHAMS) Free Zone has been offering an array of options for creative entrepreneurs looking to establish themselves with this model. While initially beginning with this focus on activities encompassing the media and other creative services, it now has a broader range of available business activity licences for your needs.

Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre (DMCC) Free Zone

While we have written a more extensive roundup about the DMCC, this Free Zone is one of the most established in the region and the globe. It opened in 2002, and there are more than 17,000 firms in this Free Zone covering commodities trading in sectors that include diamonds, gold, coffee and tea. There are also opportunities in finance and technology, along with innovative initiatives and partnerships for other fields like blockchain. It’s also home to one of the top diamond exchanges in the world, making it an ideal choice for those in that trade.

International Free Zone Authority (IFZA)

The International Free Zone Authority, or IFZA, is a Free Zone in the emirate of Fujairah. This Free Zone specialises in company formation for small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and offers the utmost amount of flexibility for those firms looking to operate there. There are also more than 1,000 available activity licences along with six licence classes that ensure a plethora of operations finds a home there.

KIKLABB

KIKLABB is a government-run entity in Dubai that offers both Free Zone and Department of Economic Development (DED) licence options. The connection with the public authorities makes it easier to establish yourself in a Free Zone. The licence does not limit you to a specific sector, and each licence can cover up to five activity codes. KIKLABB also has workspaces and other amenities for a one-stop-shop.

Ras Al Khaimah International Corporate Centre (RAK ICC)

The Ras Al Khaimah International Corporate Centre (RAK ICC) is a Free Zone in Ras Al Khaimah in the northernmost corner of the UAE. Nine per cent of the shareholders are from the United Kingdom, and there are a wealth of company formats available for you. They also offer an Intellectual Property Holding Company (IPHC) and a Premium Product that lets you create a subsidiary of your Free Zone company to operate on the mainland.
